For the October meeting of the CPG Sport Margo welcomed Tony Lithgow and Alex Boyd as the guest speakers.
Tony and Alex gave a very interesting insight into their sport and how they are preparing for both the Delhi and Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Target Shooting is one of Scotland’s best medal sports and the Commonwealth Games with 32 won since the sport was introduced to the Games.
Margo is vice chair of the Parliament’s Cross Party Group on Coeliac Disease and attended an awareness session called, Are You Free for Tea?
The Scottish Grocers’ Federation arranged for Margo to visit a Spar store in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, as part of Alcohol Awareness Week. Margo met the store manager and the Spar area manager and was shown the procedures used by Spar to record instances of and reasons for refusals by store staff to sell alcohol to customers. These can include being underage, in an intoxicated condition, attempting to purchase outwith licensing hours.
This condition is a neurological disorder that causes muscles to go into spasm, giving rise to abnormal posture or repetitive movements. It can be extremely debilitating and correct diagnosis can be a problem. This event provided an opportunity for volunteers from all over Scotland to meet one another, benefactors and clinicians.
